Trap – Neuter – Release

Trap-Neuter-Return, or “TNR,” is the most humane and effective method known for managing feral and stray cats and reducing their numbers.

Discover TNR

Discover the most humane and effective method for managing feral and stray cat populations—Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). In a TNR program, cats living in colonies are trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, and ear-tipped before being returned to their original location. A caretaker often provides regular food for the colony.

Benefits Of TNR

TNR not only controls the cat population but also addresses nuisance behaviors associated with mating, such as fighting, yowling, and spraying. The cats become healthier, less likely to spread diseases, and the colony size naturally declines over time.

Get Involved

Flagler Animal Services and Flagler Humane Society actively support TNR efforts in Flagler County. By implementing TNR, we’ve witnessed a significant decrease in cat intakes and euthanasia of feral/community cats. This humane approach is a marked improvement over the traditional method of trapping and removing cats, which only led to the influx of new cats to fill the vacuum.

Join us in promoting responsible cat population management through TNR for a healthier and more harmonious community.
